Furuno (headquartered in Nishinomiya city, Japan; President and CEO: Yukio Furuno) is pleased to announce that the Berthing Aid System, which displays the distance and angle between the ship and the quay to assist in berthing operations, has received the Innovation Endorsement Certification for Products & Solutions from ClassNK.
The Berthing Aid System
About the Berthing Aid System
The Berthing Aid System provides berthing assistance by measuring and displaying the distance between the ship and the quay. An aerial view with camera images depicting the ship's surroundings and a track chart showing past, present, and next routes, can be easily found on the display. The system also provides essential indicators for navigation, such as wind direction, wind speed, ship speed at the bow and stern, heading, rate of turn, and the angle to the quay.
Moreover, in the event of a risk of collision between the ship and the quay, the system can predict the contact angle and speed based on acceleration, alerting the navigator to the danger in advance and reducing the risk of accidents.
