The twin VSAT systems double the bandwidth, forming an integral part of the optimized communication scheme of the ship and provide the network redundancy and fail-safe applications. This delivers the possibility of offering the Internet connection for passengers at some of the cabins as well as designated onboard cyber café areas. Moreover, the ship's operators are now able to gain access to various services for voyage optimization, such as weather forecasting services. Also, the VoIP service is used to allow for extension-to-extension calls between shore and vessels. This will significantly save the cost of telephone calls for both vessels and on-shore personnel. This brings about centralized management of the information about passengers as well as safety-related information, such as weather information, route information, etc., hence streamlining the operation management of the ship.
