FURUNO Electric Co., Ltd (headquartered in Nishinomiya, Japan, President : Mr. Yukio Furuno) is pleased to introduce the new compact X-band Doppler Weather Radar "WR110". This Radar will be available in the spring of 2018 and will be exhibited beforehand at the Meteorological Technology World Expo 2017 from October 10th to 12th in Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands.

FURUNO, as a major contributor in the disasters prevention field, started in 2013, to provide solutions to these disasters with the development of Weather Observation Systems. Currently we have over 50 units of the world's smallest and lightest Dual-Polarimetric Doppler Weather Radar, the "WR-2100" in operation.
Now, we are proud to present the new "WR110", a Single Polarimetric Doppler Weather Radar, which, like its predecessors, has a very low power consumption, requires very little routine maintenance and has a greatly reduced running cost thanks to the design of its Solid-State core. Due to its small size and smart design offering both high mobility and ease of installation. The WR110 can be installed in variety of locations. Every minute, detailed monitoring of precipitation are required in modern flood forecasting or other disasters prevention (landslide or even traffic management support) in response to climate change. The WR110 can provide this in both rural and urban environments and also mountainous areas, islands etc.
Global trends in the X-band (9GHz) market shows demand is not limited to the developed areas only such as Japan, North America or Europe. The demand appears to be expanding to developing regions including Southern Asian and African countries. The development and addition of the WR110 to our current WR Series product is a direct result of FURUNO anticipating industry demands for this technology. By developing new sensors, FURUNO will continue providing the best solutions for the people, for a better living environment and a safer society.
